SanDisk and Yahoo Music are working together to compete against the Apple iPod and iTunes service

SanDisk today announced that its new wireless music player, the Sansa Connect, will be paired with Yahoo Music. The partnership will allow Sansa Connect owners to wirelessly connect and listen to LAUNCHcast Internet radio. Sansa users will also be able to browse photos on Flickr and see what Yahoo Messenger buddies are listening to.Financial details of the deal between the companies have not been released. The Sansa Connect was first introduced at the Consumer Electronics Show and costs $250 -- the 4GB, flash-based MP3 player has an additional slot for an additional SD memory card. When not connected to a WiFi network, the Sansa Connect acts like a regular MP3 player which is able to be connected to a PC.The release of the Sansa Connect comes at a time when SanDisk owns 9 percent of the U.S. MP3 player market, with Apple recently selling its 100 millionth iPod. Microsoft's Zune MP3 player is the only other music player that has wireless capability. Users cannot purchase songs through the Microsoft Zune Marketplace. SanDisk also is working with ZING, a company designed to create and offer mobile entertainment technology and services. The ZING Mobile Entertainment Engine will provide the MP3 player with new technology and services.
